Bucket/Pail Covers (Heavy Duty!) |

You know how it goes...you poured some hydraulic oil out of it's 5-gallon container, then stuck the container (bucket) on a shelf or on the floor at the back of your shop, or in some other spot where you hope the bucket will stay clean on top (but it won't). Weeks later, you grab the bucket to use more of the oil, only to find that:
▪Dust, dirt, or gravel blown or carried into your shed have stuck to dribbles of oil on top of the bucket, and/or...
▪Birds building nests in the shed have dropped pieces of nesting material and bird manure on the top of the bucket, and/or...
▪One day while the shed door was open a surprise thunderstorm blew rain far enough back into the shed to leave water sitting on top of the bucket.
So now before using what's in the bucket you have to spend time cleaning off the top to prevent getting dirt or water into the transmission of a tractor, combine, or whatever. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to do that?
We have seen what are often sold as "pail covers"—typically a 2 mil. (thin) piece of round plastic just big enough to cover the top of the bucket plus a couple inches down the side, with light elastic around the edge to keep it on the bucket. Use once, then throw away, because the plastic tears easily. We weren't impressed and wanted something better...something that would cover more of the bucket and be heavy enough to reuse over and over again.
But we couldn't buy what we wanted in small quantities. So we decided to purchase a large quantity of exactly what we wanted, and offer them for sale in any quantity—as few as 1—knowing that some of our customers would want the same thing. Our covers are made of 6 mil. thick plastic and measure 24" by 24"—big enough to cover any standard 5-gallon bucket from top to bottom, plus a bit more.
And when buckets are stacked two-high, a cover placed on the upper bucket is long enough to keep the top of the lower bucket clean as well:
Our covers are actually zip-lock bags, so if you have heavy duty storage requirements you'll find they have a lot of uses besides covering buckets. Need to keep moist air away from metal parts that might rust? Our bucket covers might do what you need. (One customer uses them in her home for storing large blankets and quilts.) Note: our bucket covers are not quite long enough to fully enclose a 5-gallon bucket—you can't place a 5-gallon bucket in the bag and still close the zip-lock top.
